It is infinitely better to enjoy the positive than to linger on the negative.
And there is a whole lot of positive to linger on.
Let me help you find it.
Live. Love. Be free.

My Philosophy

I'm Jenn. I'm a life coach, writer and speaker. I'm also a breast cancer survivor. While those descriptive words may be important to who I've become as an individual, they don't define me. That, my friend, is my insane ability to remember the lyrics of 80s songs, my capacity to see the positive in any situation and my complete dorky love of science fiction.

I want to help people see their value. How important they are—and how much they're loved. So, if you've ever had doubts, let's chat. I can help you turn those negatives into something more meaningful and positive.

In the meantime I'd like for you to think about the three core concepts at the heart of my coaching...

Living, to me, doesn’t mean waking up and doing the same damn thing you did yesterday. You know, that thing that does not work or bring you much joy. It means waking up and believing that you can do well today—that you will do well today.

Do you love your life? I do. Even so, I’m not always happy about what’s going on in my life. Love means having faith that things are going to work out. Love means believing that you can get through the hard stuff. We all need more love in our lives.

Be free.

Being free doesn’t mean doing whatever you want, whenever you want. I have a lot of responsibilities, and I know you do too. Being free means acknowledging what isn’t serving you and the ones you love. It means being willing to change, even when you have no idea what that change will look like.

My Book

Why is She Acting So Weird? is my heart, in print. Borne from my experiences interacting with friends after my diagnosis, the book is a guide to being a good friend during a life-altering crisis. Why is She Acting So Weird? seeks to empower friendship through concrete guidance and is my treatise on how friends can LIVE, LOVE and BE FREE with each other.

"During a crisis, it takes a village. And sometimes that village could use instructions. Why is She Acting So Weird? is that instruction manual."
Sandra Sobieraj Westfall, PEOPLE Magazine Correspondent

"Jenn has changed how I view patients and value so much more the family and friend support system that is essential to healing. I have modified my approach and now encourage my patients to seek that community support."
Hernan I. Vargas, MD, Director of the Inova Breast Care Institute at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital

My Services

Life Coaching

I offer coaching to individuals who are ready to take the plunge and face their limiting beliefs head on. Working with me isn’t a one-time experience where I throw some tools at you, then leave you to try them alone. As your life coach I’ll be in your corner every step of the way as you implement the changes that are right for your life. Together we'll discover what "LIVE, LOVE and BE FREE" uniquely means to you. I'll guide and cheer you along, kicking you in the ass when needed.

I've developed a new program that I'm really excited to share with you: HOPE is six weeks of coaching for people who want more positivity in their lives. This is not cheerleading. This is 6 weeks of hard-hitting investigation into why you’re so dang unhappy with where you are right this moment. I'll teach you how to create more positivity for yourself... and in doing so, attract more positivity all-around. Click HERE for more details!

Speaking Engagements

I enjoy speaking to all groups, large or small! I’m also open to workshop formats and panel discussions. Let me know what you’re thinking, and we’ll work together to tailor an experience that's perfect for your group!

Sample topics include: Caring for the Caregiver: Helping Your Friend Manage Changing Roles During Her Crisis || More than Moral Support: Why Your Own Support System Matters When A Friend is in a Crisis || Rules of Social Media Engagement When Your Friend is in a Crisis || Deciphering Dependence: Why Your Friend Won’t Accept Your Help During a Crisis || The Mathematics of Friendship: Why Adding Always Trumps Subtracting During a Crisis || Friendship Crisis Poker: Know When to Hold ‘Em and When to Fold ‘Em

Get to Know Me

Remember above when I said that my life events didn’t make me special? While 100% true, the sum total of my experiences—the ups and downs—have helped to make me who I am today. No one’s life can truly be distilled down into a few paragraphs, but let’s take a walk down memory lane so you can see how I’ve built up the resiliency to LIVE, LOVE and BE FREE.

  • 2002 to 2004 || Identity Building

    I enter a period of my life, devoted to choosing and forming who I want to be in this world on my terms. I learn what it is to LOVE when I marry Craig, the man of my dreams; I learn how to LIVE when I graduate law school; I learn how to BE FREE when I leave behind my Army girl persona. Think: Army brat joins the Army Reserves and Virginia National Guard then serves 7 years. It's the only life I'd ever known.

  • 2005 to 2010 || Love Building

    Craig and I decide it’s time to have kids… so we do the responsible thing and start with a fur baby. Once feeling pretty confident in our ability to keep another being alive, we expand our little family with the addition of a daughter. Cue how to BE FREE: I leave the law after realizing that practicing law sucks (I didn’t see that one coming!). LOVE takes over again with all this newfound free time and mommy hormones kicking into high gear. Soon another daughter joins the mix. I am a glutton for punishment. And joy.

  • 2011 to 2012 || Practicing Freedom

    The itch to help people outside of my own family becomes so strong I can no longer ignore it. I find Martha Beck Life Coach Training, with the help of some friends. My life and path are irrevocably changed.

  • 2013 to 2014 || Learning to Live

    I am diagnosed with Stage 3A breast cancer that has spread to my lymph nodes. With no family history of the disease, I am blindsided and feel as if I've been hit by a truck. I experience multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation—and a great epiphany: it's time to really, really practice what I preach. I am torn down so I may rise again. I will live. I will love. I will be free.

  • 2015 || Turning Dreams into Reality

    I fulfill a lifelong dream, publishing my first book, Why is She Acting So Weird? Every day I practice the art of learning to live, love and be free. I won't always get it right... But I'll try.

  • 2016 || Launching the Hope Program

    I hear people bemoan the fact they "aren't positive" and am inspired to create a six-week program to help them realize their own innate HOPE and POSITIVITY. We work together to bring fulfillment, positivity and love to each other (and, frankly, the world)! Click HERE for more details!
